In early 2008 The Stevens View Partnership were employed by Armagh City and District Council to undertake an extensive tourism audit and to develop a Tourism Strategy and Action Plan for Armagh City and District.
The Stevens View Partnership worked with a range of stakeholder bodies including Tourism Ireland and the Northern Ireland Tourism Board to complete the audit which informed the development of the tourism strategy and action plan.
The resulting Stevens View strategy for Armagh focussed on the key selling points for Armagh – these being Ireland’s oldest city, the centrality of Christian heritage, its townscape of Georgian architecture, together with its attractive rolling countryside and heritage of apple growing, giving the destination a unique appeal. The Stevens View Partnership highlighted the opportunity for the area to attract the rapidly growing short break leisure markets from Ireland the UK. As well as opportunities to grow special interest and business tourism, as well as day visitors. Armagh City and District Council will now use the strategy and action plan as a basis to grow tourism in the destination.
