The Northern Ireland Tourist Board has designated five Signature Projects to lead the transformation of tourism in the country. The Titanic Signature Project, a £50m project within the wider regeneration of Belfast, has been architect and design led with a business plan predicated upon attracting up to 500,000 visitors a year, the attraction of an expensive ‘ride’ its main USP.
The Northern Ireland Tourist Board on behalf of the Government is a potential investor in this project and commissioned the Stevens View Partnership (SVP) to review the business model and the assumptions upon which the case was built.
Key objectives included explaining the complex requirements of the markets and an operator to key stakeholders; involving the community and interest groups to engender a positive contribution to the project; and ensuring the business model was based upon realistic projections rather than inflated figures.
The research and analysis of the markets and market trends combined with the SVP’s knowledge of operating tourist attractions resulted in a revised business model, creating a project capable of delivering its original objectives.
“The NITB has been glad of your common-sense, practical approach to unravelling issues and developing creative solutions. I have had the rare occasion to be impressed by the work of consultants. I thank you." John Rubery, head of product development, Northern Ireland Tourist Board
"...then there was the aaaah moment, when we got the whole idea... brilliant, you allowed us to pick up on pride and made us understand we have something unique to show the world." Una Rielly, The Titanic Society
